Taawon is a non-governmental Palestinian development organization, which strives to make a distinguished contribution toward furthering the progress of Palestinians, preserving their heritage and identity, supporting their living culture and building civil society. It aims to achieve these goals by methodically identifying the Palestinian people’s needs and priorities and establishing the soundest mechanisms to maximize the benefits from the available resources. They embrace an integrated development oriented approach that focuses on cultivating healthy individuals, and more importantly, healthy communities.’
They do that through projects and activities they implement by giving five different awards annually. The one that the school applied to it called ‘WA Education Award: The Nabil Hani Qaddumi – ‘Excellent Schools for a better future.’
This year the school won the award through writing a project called ‘The Art and Vocational Educational Program.’ The value of the award is 17000 US Dollars.
The award committee assesses the project in two ways depending on special criteria: The first one, the administration work in creativity and excellence which reflects the vision, mission, value and the strategic plans of the school. The second one, the importance of the program that the school implements in discovering the students’ talents and attitudes in the artistic and vocational sides. Beside this, the school tries its best to create a suitable encouragement educational environment. And also, to let the students value the importance of these types of programs.
The Award committee decided to give the school the award after several visits during the scholastic year 2015-2016 to the school’s workshops, so as to see how the work is implemented with the students.
The principal of the school was given the award in a special ceremony in Ramallah City. The award will be used to renovate the old school sport hall and make it a multi-purpose Hall
